Willie Nelson, 91, continues to cancel tour dates citing unknown illness
Willie Nelson has canceled another tour appearance, and this time there’s no return date.
On Wednesday, hours before he was supposed to appear on stage in Virginia Beach, a note was shared to Nelson’s social media pages informing fans the 91-year-old singer would not be performing as scheduled.
The announcement came just a few days after Nelson canceled his tour opener in Georgia because he was “not feeling well”.
The first round of bad news came June 21, when Nelson canceled his first scheduled performance of his Outlaw Music Festival Tour.
“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” according to a statement issued on social media. “He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”
However, less than a week later Nelson announced yet another cancelation.
“Willie Nelson will not be performing at tonight’s show in Virginia Beach. We expect Willie to return to the tour shortly.”
Although Nelson was unable to perform, Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, and Celisse were still scheduled to perform. Nelson’s son, Lukas Nelson, and his band were also expected to play their own set, along with some of Nelson’s classics.
As of June 27, Nelson’s website still shows his next scheduled tour date in Syracuse, NY on June 28, but with an uncertain return date, it’s unclear if Nelson will be able to perform.
Whatever is keeping Willie Nelson from performing, we hope he feels better very soon.
