While visiting Kruger National Park in South Africa, photographer Conn O’Donoghure witnessed a terrifying battle between hungry lions and wild buffalo. Noticing a buffalo standing alone near the riverbank, four hungry lions decided to lie in wait to attack.

When the female buffalo was attacked, she screamed miserably and nearby buffaloes rushed to her rescue immediately.

During the melee, a lion was hit by a wild buffalo and lifted into the air.
